We measure our success in lives changed. These stories are a testament to the difference that communities can make when we come together to create lasting change.
Lake Area United Way has announced the launch of its 2025–2026 Annual Campaign, with a renewed focus on building a more resilient and healthier community, according to a media release.
The campaign shines a spotlight on the power of collaboration among Lake Area United Way’s 18 funded community partners. Each partner plays a role in meeting the needs of local residents.
“Our entire community thrives when we work together,” said Kim Jaquez, executive director of Lake Area United Way. “Your financial support helps sustain programs that impact lives every day. Whether you give your time, your talents, or your treasure, you’re helping to create a more resilient community for everyone.”
Lake Area United Way will host its annual Day of Caring Friday, Sept 12. This event mobilizes volunteers and resources for local nonprofits, tackling much-needed projects and supply drives to benefit those they serve.
Lake Area United Way began in 1915 as the United Charities of Muskogee. It became the Muskogee Community Chest in 1939, transitioned to the United Way of Muskogee in 1979, and in 2000 became Lake Area United Way Inc., reflecting expanded coverage of Muskogee and Cherokee counties.
Since 2004, the organization has granted over $7 million to community partners— an achievement made possible by the generosity of local individual and corporate donors, workplace campaigns and volunteers.
“Strong communities are built on shared commitment,” said Jaquez. “With your support, we can continue creating opportunities, offering vital resources, and ensuring a healthier, more resilient future for all.”
Jaquez said 99% of the funds raised locally stay in the community.
